Week 4, Term 2

Another busy week has passed with a lot of work going into the clear files that go home Friday. We hope you enjoy looking at and talking about the wonderful work your children have been doing so far this year. Please bring them back on Monday so we can have them at the conferences with you and your child Monday and Tuesday afternoon.

Congratulations to Rhys this week for receiving Pupil of the Week. Rhys has been working really hard during mat time. It is hard for our young people to learn how to sit on the mat; to not play and talk or touch others, but it is worthwhile to develop these behaviours so we can get along with people. Well done Rhys, you are getting really good at this!

This term we are learning about painting. We did some clever painting with Mrs Lawson to make autumn forest pictures. We painted the tree trunks and branches first using black paint. Then we used the brush and dabbed in autumn colours to look like leaves. We had to mix the colours and it was quite tricky but with some persistence we got there in the end. And don't they look amazing! Check out our individual work on our own pages.

Next week we will be learning the letters a and q and learning to write the letter Mn.
Our poem will be "Old King Cole" and our big book will be "Lunch for Greedy Cat".
In maths we will be doing some more work on shapes for our geometry unit. You can help your child by spotting shapes around the house and talking about them with them. We will be working on joining sets of numbers and continuing our work on the before and after numbers up to 20.
Keep up the cross country work everybody, the big race is coming up! Getting out for a quick run with your kids is a great way to tire them out!
Have a great weekend everybody!
