Welcome to our new classroom! We are just so lucky to have such a fabulous new building to move into. We just love how warm and comfortable it is.
This term we welcome lots of new friends into our class. Welcome Hamish, Madeline, and Saia. We are enjoying getting to know them and know they will have a great time with us all in Ako Tahi.
This week we have done so much learning already! We have been learning how to read, practicing our writing, and of course our maths. As well as those important daily jobs, we have been learning our address and telephone numbers and practicing saying them with our full names. This is part of our Keeping Ourselves Safe unit. We practiced with each other. It was fun pretending to be strangers and introducing ourselves.
We had lots of visitors this week also. We had a visit from Constable Garland from New Zealand Police. He talked to us about how important it was to know your name and phone number and how to be strong and confident. We practiced introducing ourselves with him too.
We also had a visit from a very special New Zealander. Sarah Ulmer came to Victory Primary School on Thursday afternoon and talked to us about her passion, cycling. She talked about what it felt like to win a gold medal in the Olympic Games and some of us even got to hold her medal! Lucky us!
We also had some students from Nelson Intermediate come and visit us on Friday morning. They are going to be our big BIG buddies this term and will come and read us stories and play some maths games with us most Fridays. We will still have buddy time with Room 13 though!
Next week we will be focusing on the letter 's' and learning to recognise numbers to 20 instantly. We will also be talking about how we feel in certain situations. We will discuss feelings of happiness, sadness, when we are proud, excited, scared, and confused. Have a happy and safe week everyone.
