Term 3, Week 2

Another exciting week! It was Maori Language Week this week and we had a special hangi on Friday to celebrate. It was so yummy! We all tried some. Restige and Saia thought the chicken was the best part. Samuel ate everything on his plate!

We had a busy day on Friday as not only did we eat Hangi, but we got to make sherbert with our big buddies from Room 13.  We had to measure the ingredients carefully or our yummy sweet would turn out yukky!

To make it at home you will need:

  •   1/2 teaspoon citric acid
  •   1 teaspoon icing sugar
  •   1 1/2  teaspoons Raro (or similar)
  •   1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Mix it all together in a cup then taste! Mmmmm! These are some of the reactions we had to the sensation.

Tingly! Fizzy! Like an explosion! Bubbly! Bubbles! Yummy! Stingy! Juicy!

We also have a new friend in Ako Tahi. Welcome to Lyrik. We were also happy to find out that one of his sisters is in our buddy class! Lucky Lyrik.

Something we are learning to do at school is know our letters and sounds so we can read and write words. When we get really good at them and can say them all, we get a certificate to celebrate our success. Well done, Restige, who received his certificate this week.
We are also learning our maths and this week Hamish and Samuel practiced making groups of things up to ten. Well done, boys!
Constable Garland is coming back to see us to talk to us about keeping ourselves safe this week. I will be out of the classroom on Wednesday for a reading course and Miss Tobin will be teaching.
Have a happy and safe week everyone.
