Buddy Time

Last week we were lucky to have a visit from our buddy class Room 13 and they brought Mr Science with them! Lucky us! We did an experiment with vinegar, baking soda, and raisins. We had to measure carefully....
Mix well....

And observe, or look carefully and notice what was happening.

Would you believe the raisins jumped up and down inside the liquid like they were dancing?!? Try it at home and see for yourself!

You will need:  1/2 cup of water
                          3 Tablespoons of vinegar
                          3 teaspoons of baking soda
                          about 6 raisins
Mix all the ingredients in order, adding the raisins last.
The vinegar and baking soda give the water bubbles or fizz but you can also use other carbonated (fizzy) water or soft drink.

This week the Blue Reading Group are reading a book called 'A Puzzle for Scruffy'. It is about a boy called Josh and his dog Scruffy. Josh sets a puzzle for Scruffy. It is a bit like an obstacle course. We thought we could make one for ourselves. Our friend Nikolai from Germany helped us set it up.

We had to go over the blocks (just like Scruffy).

Up the see-saw and down the see-saw.....

And through the tunnel and the house.

We had to work together to stop our obstacle course blowing away in the wind but it was worth it. We could do it easily. Well done us!
