Congratulations to Bayley for receiving Pupil of the Week this week. Bayley has been working hard since he started school earlier this month. He has been learning what it takes to be a school boy and has been brave when it's his turn to speak on the mat. Well done, Bayley! We are proud of you.
This week we held our school and community Matariki celebrations. We had our lanterns and headbands finished in time for the show. Some senior students put on a great show of the story of Maui and Mahuika the Fire Goddess which we all got to sing in and enjoyed watching. The show was followed by the community walk up the Railway Reserve into the night, returning to the community centre for more performances and some kai. Check out our individual pages for photos of us with our lanterns and headbands on.
There has been quite a few winter ills and gripes around lately. We have been doing work in our Health topic on washing hands and keeping germs at bay. We encourage the children to wash their hands carefully regularly throughout the day and especially after toileting or sneezing. We also teach them to sneeze or cough into their elbow or arm rather than their hands to prevent the spread of bugs. We hope this is keeping most of the germy germs contained.
On that note, have a good week everyone!
