Welcome to our blog!

Here we are up on our blog! This is one of the places you can see what we have been up to in Ruma Rima. We will post some photos of our work, ourselves and other cool stuff. Keep a look out for weekly posts next term.

Lately we have been doing a lot of investigating into how monarch butterflies come about. We have some special plants in the classroom called swan plants which is what they like to lay their eggs on. Our plants were left outside and soon had some pretty butterflies lay eggs on them. The eggs hatched into caterpillars. They love to eat the swan plant leaves and grew and grew. They got so big! We were a bit worried there wouldn't be enough food for them as the plants weren't that big. Just when we thought they couldn't eat any more, the caterpillars each turned into a chrysalis. We all guessed how long it would take for the butterfly to come out.

We have loved watching the life cycle at each stage and have done lots of pictures and other artworks about our 'class pets'.  Here are some caterpillars we coloured then put up on leaves.

Check out our poem books each Friday for lots of butterfly and caterpillar poems, too.
